The second national planning meeting for the National Lesbian Conference will take place on July 21-23 in Portland, Oregon.
The National Lesbian Conference is a broad-based grassroots coalition working towards creating a National Conference by, for, and about Lesbians.
The purpose of the Portland meeting will be to continue the work that began at the first planning meeting in Durham, North Carolina, March 3-6. Over two hundred Lesbians from 36 states, representing extremely diverse points of view were in Durham. After long hours and often difficult discussions, the vision for the National Conference started to take
shape.
Building on our work from Durham, some of the items on the agenda for the Portland meeting will include:
Finalize the date for our Conference to take place in Atlanta, Georgia,
Network and fine tune the 15 working committees,
Continue to process data from regional input,
Formalize decision-making body/steering committee.
This is just a portion of the work that we need to do. We understand that it is a difficult venture to attempt, but we are also beginning to realize the rewards of working together to create our vision.
We hope that the planning for the Conference will continue to have input from as many diverse Lesbians as possible. Please send your concerns to the National Office at P.O. Box 3057, Albany, N.Y. 12203. 518-463-1051.
If you would like to attend the Portland meeting please contact the National Office before July 7, 1989.
